Rated 5 out of 5 by Jimswife A hard to find favorite
I live in Michigan where it is cold for much of the year. I am always the first one to run for a sweater. I have not tried this sweater on yet because I am recovering from surgery, but I figured I would grab it while it was on sale. I have purchased this sweater before in lavender and rose and love it. The staggered cable pattern is very attractive and the Dutch Blue color works in any season. It is the same quality as the woolen cable cardigan sold by Appleseeds, but it is $10 more expensive. The quality is the same so I am puzzled by this. I like the sweater so much that I will pay it, but still wonder why.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Omjewelie Terrible Quality / Excellent Customer Service
I had read previous reviews that said this sweater was scratchy but unlike many other people, wool has never bothered me so I disregarded their comments. When I received this sweater, I could not believe how rough it was. I don't think I have ever felt anything so scratchy. It was beautiful and the purple color was perfect and for $19.99, I decided to hand wash and see if it would soften up. After lightly hand washing in cold water the sweater faded and streaked and was ruined. Besides that it was still scratchy. I couldn't believe it! Now for the good news. I called Customer Service and they were perfect! A++! They did everything right and refunded the price + shipping. Because of this excellent service I would try them again....just stay away from this sweater!

Rated 3 out of 5 by petrret This product is very well made BUT....
The fit was not at all good due to a very large neck opening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OmaE Excellent fit, wear and warmth
Have a navy shefland 100% wool sweater in Navy and wanted a lighter color for warmer but not summer weather to wear. Viola! It was available and on sale. Two great values at one time. Thanks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Tootsie1433 This sweater is stiff and scratchy. Not happy.
I bought 2 or these sweaters at the same time. I found the wool stiff and scratchy. I have not washed them yet but hope that they will soften a lot when I do. However I do not want to wash them yet as I am afraid they will shrink to much, after all they are 100% wool. I do not know what may have been added to the process that makes them so stiff, but I do not like it. I am used to wearing wool and have not experienced this before. I keep hoping that the more I wear them the softer and less skratchy they will become. Fit is fine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Givien There is room for improvement here.
It's wonderful to see a Shetland wool sweater returning to us at a price we can afford. The wool is not the lush loft we knew in our earlier days. I bought one earlier this season that was ok in odor. This one was definitely from some storage or shipping that had a strong chemical odor, faintly kerosene. A cold water hand wash and a fluff on fresh air wooden rack has restored it somewhat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Felter Runs large, wool is thin and scratchy.
As other reviews say, this sweater runs large and the wool fabric is thin and scratchy. So, when they went on sale, I ordered several more, filled the washing machine with warm water, added Woolite, and did a controlled felting. Now the sweaters are the perfect size, thicker, and softer. I'm happy in the end, but wouldn't recommend this item to anyone who is expecting a thick, soft, well-fitting sweater.

They fit true to size and the colors are very pretty. I've been wearing Shetland sweaters all my life. This is the only place I could find them in the U.S. I bought 3 and they should last me for a while, although I wouldn't mind getting more if Tog Shop would offered them in new colors such as a slightly darker rose heather, a lighter blue heather, a soft pale yellow heather, and a green jade heather (the current jade heather is more of an aqua heather, although very pretty). I like the crew neck with ribbed trims, the gross grain ribbon trim in the inner placket, and the brown shell buttons. Although the subtle cable is interesting, I wouldn't mind getting them in a plain knit. I also think a fair isle yoke style would be a nice addition. I hope Tog Shop will always have classics like this.
